Handing over the Hundredth Home this Year!

Posted: 04 October 2022

Celebrating completing another New Build development, we officially marked the handover of more than 100 homes to housing Group, Torus, with our latest Liverpool scheme.

The fifth New Build development the team has finished in 2022 alone, Mill Lane signifies a further £4 million investment in the creation of 34 new, affordable homes – built specifically for over 55’s – in the popular West Derby area of Liverpool.

The project at Mill Lane saw the team regenerate a brownfield site and build a new future for the land which used to house a Care Home, demolished after a serious fire.

Discussing handing over Mill Lane, Construction Director, John Barrow, said:

“Handing over Mill Lane officially marks the completion of 113 homes by HMS this year and as we have only been delivering New Build projects for three years, this is a major milestone.

“Mill Lane is a great development and one that has seen a forgotten site regenerated to meet the actual needs of West Derby’s community and the I am looking forward to seeing just how much this development will continue to positively contribute to the local area.”

Continuing, Chris Bowen, Managing Director of Torus Developments, said:

“It is great to see brownfield developments such as this complete and add affordable homes in an area where there is a shortage.

“As a landlord, Torus already has a number of properties in West Derby, so it is great to build on that investment and bring a number of new homes to an area we have a history working with to further embed positive, sustainable changes in the community.”

Torus Group Asset Director, Margaret Goddard, said:

“Torus is committed to creating quality, affordable, new homes for people who need them. The 34 new homes for the over 55s on Mill Lane demonstrate this priority.

“But it’s not just about building apartments, it’s also about creating safe and secure homes, a community within our communities’ that people can be proud of.”
